Studio Shoots

Our portrait shoots are based here in our Castleford portrait photography studio and last about an hour (although we don’t impose any limit on this). Following the session we will prepare the images for you to view on the big screen in our studio over a cup of tea or coffee. We want you to completely enjoy the session and the viewing so you won’t get any ‘hard sell’ just plenty of time to choose from the selection of images we have prepared for you. We can cater for all types of studio based portrait photography, so whether you are looking for a pre-wedding shoot or individual session, family portraits , group portraits, child, pet or baby or newborn portraits, we can accommodate you. We can provide different styles of photography to suit your tastes, from the fun white background style that’s all the rage at the moment, to moody subdued lighting and traditional family style portraits.

Lifestyle Shoots

Not all portrait photography is about sitting in a studio looking at the camera. Do you have a special place where you’d like your portrait shoot? We don’t need studio lights as we’ve got the biggest light every created that we use to good effect in the shape of the sun. Lifestyle portrait shoots are relaxed and informal. Dress code and what to expect

If you’ve never been to a professional portrait studio before you may not know what to expect or what to wear. So as a suggestion why not bring a couple of changes of clothes to the session? It adds variety to the photographs and provides you with a larger selection of images to choose from. Typically we take in the region of 100 plus photographs depending on the type of session you are attending. We would suggest you are careful of wearing tight clothing  which can leave impressions on your skin and can take considerable time to vanish. If you are planning to change your clothing during the session (we have changing facilities) please consider this and wear something loose on your way to the studio. Also for children’s photographs we would recommend when you attend your session to bring a few of their favourite toys. These look great on the photographs and keep your children interested for the duration of the session.

During the session we will recommend a variety of poses during your photo shoot. They are made to get the best from you during the session but if you would like any specific poses or you have any of your own ideas then please do tell us. We try to make the session as comfortable and fun as possible and understand that this could be your first time in a professional photographic studio. It’s your session, so take your time, relax and enjoy it – no need to rush! You are of course welcome to bring along a friend or partner to the shoot even if they are not going to be on the photographs.
